Black Movement Festival

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Celebrate Black History Month with us at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder, Colorado! The Black Movement Festival, presented by Jarrett Rashad Dance Theater in collaboration with the Dairy Art Center and Boulder Ballet, is the perfect opportunity to uplift and empower the Black community of all backgrounds around Colorado while promoting greater understanding and appreciation for Black history and culture.

Our festival offers a variety of classes in visual arts, dance, film, holistic lifestyle, history, business, and finance, and shows every evening from February 22- 25th, 2024. You can enjoy performances by Black artists and speakers, shop for amazing deals and unique products from local vendors, and participate in various activities.

We strive to create a space for Black artists, performers, and speakers to showcase their talents and share their stories, promoting holistic healing and empowerment, which is essential for creating a more just and equitable society for all.

Join us in celebrating and honoring the contributions of Black Americans to our country's history and culture. Don't miss this chance to be part of this momentous occasion and support our mission. We can't wait to see you there!

Our Mission is Clear

  • Unite Colorado's African American Community: We seek to bring together the African American community in Colorado, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness that is the foundation for any vibrant, thriving culture.

  • Celebrate Influence, Innovation, Ideas, and People: We invite families and individuals from all walks of life to celebrate the profound influence, innovative spirit, brilliant ideas, and remarkable individuals shaping African American culture.

  • Expand Boulder's Horizons: We strive to broaden the city's cultural horizons and strengthen its community fabric by connecting Boulder to a network of families and individuals not currently engaged.

  • Empower and Connect: Through insights shared by industry leaders, our festival empowers the community and beyond with valuable knowledge and connections. This, in turn, supports local vendors and businesses, creating a vibrant ecosystem of mutual support and growth.
